I offer group online courses in both Piano and Trumpet. Why group lessons? Because group lessons are fun for students. They are able to watch and learn from each other, in a way that is not possible when it is just the teacher with one student. Students will look forward to seeing each other in class and learning music together.
Students will be expected to have access to an instrument. Piano in the beginning levels do not have to be full-size (88 keys) and digital is just fine. In fact, that's what I have too! Trumpet students should have their own instrument, whether they own it or rent from a music store, and the instrument should be in good working condition.
Here is a description of my current course offerings:
Mayron Cole Piano Method Level 1 -
- Appropriate for 1st through 5th grade students.
- Pre-requisite class Blast-Off with Piano (ages 7-10) or Blast off with Piano Jr. (ages 5-7) camps. These are currently offered in my Outschool classroom, but I am open to offering them privately, if there is demand.
- Students will learn how to count eighth note, quarter note, half note, dotted half note, whole note and dotted quarter/eighth note rhythms. They will also learn the keys for middle C up to G and from middle C down to F. Staff reading is introduced later in the level, to ensure that students are learning the keys on the piano and not relying on fingering positions or finger numbers.
- Class size is from 2-6 students and will last 40 minutes, once a week.
- Cost is $70/month. Classes will be held on Zoom. If a student misses class, a recording will be provided.
Mayron Cole Piano Method Level 1 for Older Beginners -
- Appropriate for beginners age 6th grade and older. Adult beginners will be in their own class, not with students younger than 18.
- No pre-requisite class.
- Students will learn how to count eighth note, quarter note, half note, dotted half note, whole note and dotted quarter/eighth note rhythms. They will also learn the keys for middle C up to G and from middle C down to F. Staff reading is introduced later in the level, to ensure that students are learning the keys on the piano and not relying on fingering positions or finger numbers.

Beginning Trumpet -
- Appropriate for students in 4th - 6th grade, in the beginning stages of playing the trumpet.
- No pre-requisite class. I do offer a two week camp for beginners in my Outschool classroom, if interested.
- Students will use the Essential Elements for Band Method
- Students will learn to count whole note, half note, dotted half note and quarter note and eighth note rhythms. Students will start by learning about proper care and cleaning of the instrument, how to make their first sounds and play many songs on their first five notes - C, D, E, F, G. From there we will work up to high C and down to low A, and focus on having a clear tone and accurate counting.
- Class size is from 2-6 students, and will last 40 minutes, once a week.
- Cost is $70/month. Classes will be held on Zoom. If a student misses class, a recording will be provided.
